The Natural Solution
Wave Attenuation Devices (WAD®s) are designed & engineered to be environmentally sensitive. WAD® Arrays are specifically modeled with characteristics that mimic natural barrier reefs and shore protection. They attract a full array of local species and promote growth on all surfaces of the reef and the surrounding habitat.

Top to Bottom
WAD®s arrays have a comprehensive, life-cycle impact on the entire habitat where they are placed. Attenuating damaging wave action immediately begins shoreline protection and often rebuilding. Sediment movement enhances marine life and vegetation, which then feeds and fortifies even the birds and other wildlife in the surrounding environment.
True Intergration
WAD®s become a part of surrounding wildlife sanctuary. They intercept incoming wave energy before it hits the shoreline, slowing or even stopping erosion altogether. The calm water between islands or beaches and arrays provides foraging and nesting habitat. They keep barrier islands and marshlands intact for pelicans, cormorants, herons, egrets, and spoonbills, among other species.

Balanced
WAD®s are precast concrete specially formulated to be pH neutral and designed to foster the growth of oysters, barnacles and other sessile organisms to attach immediately, which are food for fish and birds.
Productive
WAD®s provide oxygen-rich environment that greatly accelerates marine biomass development. Optimized, hydrodynamic design and the resulting cyclonic flow of micronutrient-rich water produces an “up welling” of rich biomass, creating a food source for the feeding fish, shellfish, and sub-surface plant development.
Measured, nearly 5 Metric tons of Biomass Production per 10 Square Meter surface area, annually. (Rodney Garner, Executive Summary on Fish Haven Productivity (GCMarSt) Queensland Australia.
Diversity
The acid-neutral concrete structures are hollow with engineered angled cutouts on the slanted sides that allow small fish and crustaceans to enter or pass through and encourage oysters, barnacles, or other marine life to attach, thereby creating a sea life nursery in much the same way naturally-growing mangrove roots and seagrasses do.
Site-specific array configuration promotes schooling of larger species on and around the reef array all contributing to long term diversity and habitat productivity.
MArine Habitat
WAD® arrays are designed to be an Essential Fish Habitat (EFH). The design and durability of these units deliver exceptional environmental benefits. Our complex systems provide extremely strong marine diversity with an abundance of recreational and commercial marine species.
WAD®s are methodically designed to promote and accelerate rapid marine growth on all hard substrate surfaces, both inside the structure and out. Promote marine life habitat and engineered to attenuate the damaging impact of wave-driven erosion to protect the world’s shore & coastlines.
